live sound collage broadcasts

The previous presentation of Special Collections explored the subject of echolocation, the production of sound in order to conceptualize data about one’s environment.

Tonight the topic is sonification,  the conceptualization of data from one’s environment into sound.

Metal detectors, US Geologic Survey earthquake data, a quasar’s dying breath, EEG, electromagnetic resonance of solar wind, bat detectors, the mains hum, heliospheric radio emissions, geiger counters, and the sonic interpretation of data left behind by the dissolution of the Higgs-Boson particle.
