A golden jubillee of the Watts Rebellion and homage to the classic 1969 LP The Sound of Dissent.  Tonight’s show features archival material from the collections of the California State Military Museum, UCLA Film and Television Archive, and Paley Center for the Media, broadcast footage from KPFK, KPFA, KTLA, CBS, and ABC, and a Special Collections exclusive: 38 minutes of scanner broadcasts recorded directly from the dispatch board at LAPD Communications Division HQ on August 11, 1965 (unattributed, see section 705 of the Federal Communications Act, Interception and Divulgence of Radio Communications).  Also music by Booker-T and the MGs, The Meters, Archie Shepp, Sam Cooke, Billie Holiday, Fela Kuti, Sweet Honey in the Rock and more.
